Reflection of Art

Yue Sun wile 100-201 Professor: Lois Bender July 9, 2012 Earthworks artistic creation derives from life but it is beyond life. When I watched the image of Robert Smithsons Spiral Jetty, the first social function that appe ard in my mind was a lollipop. This sculpture consists of several incessant circles. You can imagine if you curtly see this mysterious helical shape in a vast beach, you mustiness be surprised and shocked. Its exchangeable a relic from passe or a data track which a snail comely walked on. Nature things are ever so better than artificial material. And the earthworks are absolutely natural. The spiral groyne was built entirely of mud, sidestep salt crystal, basalt rocks, earth, and water on the northeastern shore of the  peachy table salt Lake. The some other thing is that this sculpture is actually giant. It forms a 1,500-foot- large (460 m), 15-foot-wide (4.6 m) sinistral kink jutting from the shore of the lake. Smithson must spend a long time working on this sculpture.

Also because of the extensive shape, no one can gravel it to any museums. exclusively I have a dubiety: how did people stack this sculpture. not everyone can take shroud and fly slightly it. Smithson was born(p) in Passaic,  newborn jersey and studied  mental usher and drawing in New York City at the  artistic creation Students League of New York. At the beginning of his career, he was swain at painting. He in general identified himself as a painter during this time. As for this sculpture, Smithson use the circle as the grassroots figure.
